Rosemary’s Blessing:

A Prayer For Growing Old Gracefully

Lord, Thou knowest better than I myself that I am growing older and will someday be old. Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.

Release me from craving to straighten out everybody's affairs. Make me thoughtful but not moody; helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all; but Thou knowest, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end. Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details; give me wings to get to the point. Seal my lips on my aches and pains; they are increasing, and love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by.

I dare not ask for improved memory, but for a growing humility and a lessening cock-sureness when my memory seems to clash with the memories of others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be mistaken.

Keep me reasonably sweet, for a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil. Give me the ability to see good things in unexpected places and talents in unexpected people; and give, O Lord, the grace to tell them so.

Rosemary's Blessing of The Week

The Christmas Story will always be the story of Emmanuel, of God-with-us, always and everywhere, in the everyday, in the chaos, in the flight into exile, in the love between a man and a woman and in the birth of a child. It is the story of God who heals, empowers and loves us just as we are – in our greatness and our foolishness. As we anticipate the joy, the love and the peace that are God's Christmas gifts to us, let us receive them with gratitude and be sure to unfold them and share them especially where they need to be more visible.

Materials provided. I have helped out for about 5 years. The program is wonderful and the kids at Harrington are great.

Kameran ready for his baptism Saturday. Before the baptism, I look down at Kameran to see that he not only has an iPhone open in his had, but he is looking for a particular app with his finger. He barely knows how to walk and already can operate an iPhone. Just like when we were kids, yeah.

Special Announcement: We are moving

After celebrating week after week for 10 years, PISD is asking us to move over to Sigler on Janwood. Apparently it is quite expensive to A/C the large cafetorium at Vines. Sigler will be more economical. September 6 we begin our new adventure.

Mike & Dee Miller's daughter, Lisa, not doing well; for Nina Tucker's dad, Art; For Sr. Patricia Otillio, a nun I worked with for years in Grand Coteau; Judy Thompson's dad in the hospital; John Cade's mother in law, Kalliopi Piskiouli; Charlie's brother in law with cancer; Beth Dugan's dad struggling with prostate cancer; from Rob, the brother of his business associate who has cancer; Frank’s sister, Grace Campos, 84, with stage one; Diane McClurg's mom having a hard time making the transition to assisted living; Dee's friend, Don Fox, with cancer;

Dick Thompson's daughter, Teri Jill & her cousin Terri.
