Welcome to Matterhorn Canyon, eastern Yosemite National Park.  The Canyon is reached by a long series of descending switch backs.  Then we proceed up the Canyon as it angles to the left.   This leads to Burrow Pass, over 10 thousand feet high.

Home Sweet Home.  Of the 9 days we spend, 2 are rest days, one near the beginning, one near the end.  Thus, we spend 2 nights in one campsite on 2 occasions.   Very relaxing.

Rose even cooks our dinner, despite the fact that she has made 8 casseroles & cobblers, freeze dried them, and packaged them.  We eat better than at most restaurants thanks to Rose.

If you did not consider yourself crazy for riding 100 miles in the heat, this will confirm it. Mile 20 rest stop. Local kids put on a tableau.

 For Irene Urbanczyk, Rick's mom in Buffalo, who is just about ready to move to the Other Side, that she do so peacefully;   Monica's medical deal last Tuesday;  Jan's family members who are doing badly & Charlie's brother in law with cancer;    Jean O'Donnell's brother, Louis;  Chuck Pratt and his cancer; John's Caliope, who has been in and out of the hospital;  JohnDoherty's dad who is declining rapidly;  Dee's friend Carole and Cole, 17, facing brain surgery; Dick Thompson's daughter, Teri Jill & her cousin Terri. 

See that blue and white tent? Check it out for boxes of 5-6 varieties of cookies home made by the ladies of the town of Electra. All rest stop personnel are volunteer. Rest stop 30 miles.

68 mile rest stop. The later the ride, the more the gassed riders. Lots of medical support with IV's and cold packs.
