Let us pray to our God     

To the God of Mary and Joseph,

To the God of Abraham and Sarah.

May our spirit fill the world with beauty and wonder.

May our mind seek truth with humility and openness.

May our hearts forgive without limit.

May our love for friend, enemy and outcast be without measure.

May our needs be few and my living simple.

A note from John Cade:

In the summer of 1956, when still in the seminary, I spent a week at the Trappist monastery north of Atlanta, outside Conyers, Georgia.  I got to experience how Trappist monks end every single day, expressing their devotion to Mary, Jesus’ mother—a hundred men standing together and chanting in Latin, Salve Regina, Hail Holy Queen.  August 15^th is one of the days we have traditionally honored Mary.  I will chant this hymn in her honor at the end of Sunday Mass.

SALVE REGINA.                                                   HAIL HOLY QUEEN.                                           

Salve Regina, mater misericordiae:  vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.

Hail holy queen, mother of mercy; Our life, our sweetness and our hope.

Ad te clamamus, exsules, filii Hevae.  Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes in hac lacrimarum valle.

 To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.  To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
