Rosemary’s Blessing

Revel in a friendly smile,

Grasp the offered hand, warm and strong,

And with your best love be reconciled.

Watch the clouds march across the sky

As you come from your daily labor,

Your heart open for surprise

And may the God of surprises

Who filled the world with wonder

Bless you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

    Rosemary’s Blessing of The Week

    May God give you…
    For every storm, a rainbow,
    For every tear, a smile,
    For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
    For every problem life sends,
    A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

    Rosemary’s Blessing:

A Prayer For Growing Old Gracefully

Lord, Thou knowest better than I myself that I am growing older and will someday be old. Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.

Release me from craving to straighten out everybody’s affairs. Make me thoughtful but not moody; helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all; but Thou knowest, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end. Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details; give me wings to get to the point. Seal my lips on my aches and pains; they are increasing, and love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by.

I dare not ask for improved memory, but for a growing humility and a lessening cock-sureness when my memory seems to clash with the memories of others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be mistaken.

Keep me reasonably sweet, for a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil. Give me the ability to see good things in unexpected places and talents in unexpected people; and give, O Lord, the grace to tell them so.

    Amen.
    17th Century Nun’s Prayer

In connection with our First Blessing of The Men:

Life is a circle; it's beginning is its end,

Going on forever, beginning when time began.

Enclosed within the circle is every thought of love,

Gliding on the winds of time, on the wings of a dove.

In the center of the circle is the hardened core of hate,

Bringing upon the wars of the world and may someday bring its fate.

But then life is a circle; it's beginning is it's end,

Going on forever beginning when time began.

Life is a circle; it's beginning is it's end,

As it was in the beginning it shall be again.
