    4.  Christmas Concert at the Meyerson: believe it or not, it is time to buy our group tickets.  We will have a sign up sheet Sunday and Rosemary will begin talks with her rep at the Meyerson.  Included will be a visit to the Rectory for wine & cheese and a ride through Highland Park to see the best lights.  

    Connected with this, a plan is developing to visit the Christmas lights in Hightland Park on bikes one evening, a common event.  We have our guide, Chris Phipps, who lives there, and the old geezer can second, since this is his old neighborhood.  Get your bike lights polished.

    1. Love for the Kids picnic, December 12.  Book it.  Bill will have a signup sheet.  This is a great event for underprivileged kids, hundreds of them.                                                                                                                                            
    2. Services of Hope, 6540 Victoria Ave. Dallasstill want to help out with serving the less fortunate at Thanksgiving, like we used to do at the church? Book the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 21.                                                                                                                                          I would say that this is a little different than our former experience.  The charity will pack over a 1000 Thanksgiving dinner baskets.  Instead of serving a meal, volunteers will load the baskets and hand them to the appropriate people.

      There are two hand out times, morning & afternoon.  I think Rosemary & I will spend a couple of hours there, probably late morning or, say, around 3:00 in the afternoon.

      Daniel, the director, says they need all the volunteer help they can get.  6540 Victoria Ave. is the address in Dallas, near Love Field, east side, off of Mockingbird.  Welcome.

  • 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time, July 5, 2026

    Zecariah 9:  He shall banish the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; the warrior’s bow shall be banished, and he shall proclaim peace to the nations.  His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
    Romans 8:  If the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also, through his Spirit that dwells in you.
    Matthew 11:  “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

     


    The question is not what we should celebrate, but what shouldn’t we celebrate. Every occasion is an occasion. It’s not the date on the calendar that matters, it’s the cognizance in our own soul
