 True?

“The end of violence or the
aftermath of violence is bitterness. The aftermath of nonviolence is
reconciliation and the creation of a beloved community. A boycott is never an
end within itself. It is merely a means to awaken a sense of shame within the
oppressor but the end is reconciliation, the end is redemption.”

    True?

I believe there is an important distinction to be made between religion and spirituality. Religion I take to be concerned with belief in the claims to salvation of one faith tradition or another–an aspect of which is acceptance of some form of meta-physical or philosophical reality, including perhaps an idea of heaven or hell. Connected with this are religious teachings or dogma, ritual, prayers and so on. Spirituality I take to be concerned with those qualities of the human spirit–such as love and compassion, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, contentment, a sense of responsibility, a sense of harmony, which bring happiness to both self and others.

I asked Bill if he would share with community some Excellent News he had just received.  His response—

    Friends:

This is my first try at a group e-mail so I hope this will work and bring you up to date on my current status.  As many of you know I was diagnosed Oct 17th with stage 4 lung cancer which had spread to a spot on my liver and my adrenal glands.  After multiple scans and tests they started me on Infusion Chemo Therapy on Nov 21st still awaiting the genomic findings which arrived Nov 29th.

Yesterday my Oncologist, Dr Hughes told me that the kind of cancer (non-smokers adenocarcinoma) and the genomic test which showed BRAF- v600E was very treatable with two drugs taken in pill form and the infusion could be eliminated for now.  Great news for me as it appears to be a form of cancer that will respond to treatment very well.

I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that have come my way and I can tell you it is very uplifting.

I'll keep you posted on my progress, Thanks again for all the prayers.
