Reminder for the 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time, February 27, 2022

Sirach 27:  Praise no one before he speaks, for it is then that people are tested.

1 Corinthians 15:   Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, steadfast, always fully devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Luke 6:  Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?

    True?

The mantra we frequently pray, "Come, Lord, Jesus, come," means somehow in Advent we have to make sure we are hungry, that is, that there is room inside us for "more."  Who else do I need to "take in" my heart and my mind?

Like Jesus, we can give the God who dwells in us a way of coming to human expression in the way we are neighbor, the way we are in solidarity with those who are different from us or who have less than we, the way we put an end to divisions, and the way we are more expansive and inclusive in our loving, forgiving and giving.

As we live this holy season of Advent, let us remember "God comes to you disguised as your life."*

Just a reminder on our "Room in the Inn" Program for the holidays.   We're offering hotel rooms at no cost to our guests coming to visit loved ones in area hospitals, nursing homes and treatment centers on Christmas Eve.

Tharaldson Lodging Company, which operates our hotel, began the "Room in the Inn" program in 1988.  With times as they are now in Michigan and across the country, we're trying to relieve some of the financial stress of having family in a care facility and by offering free rooms to those in need, we hope to make it a little easier for families to get together during the holidays.

If you happen to know of anyone who's in this circumstance, or need more information about our "Room in the Inn" program, please contact our General Manager, Rick Porco, or visit our Website for all of our locations at  http://www.tharaldson.com

    Dear Stack Ministry,

Hello, my name is Anthony DeGenova.  I am 17 years old, and am working on my Boy Scouts Eagle Project.  My mission is to donate LEGO blocks to under-privileged children.  This project includes the collection, cleaning, sterilizing, sorting, packaging, and delivery of the LEGO blocks to a few charities that cater to children. I plan to donate all of mine, and would like very much to collect as many as possible from friends and neighbors like you, who wouldn’t mind giving theirs up for needy children.  I am accepting both used and new LEGO blocks. Please bring the LEGO blocks to church and my parents will pick them up.  Alternatively, I will gladly pick them up from your house, at your convenience.

If you have any questions, please contact me at:

I look forward to your support, and hope to make this drive and my Eagle project a success. Thank you very much for your help,
