  A.  Schedule of upcoming events:  In an attempt to make our Advent special this year, we invite the community to focus on one gift to the less fortunate each of the 4 Sundays.  We will include a special reconciliation rite the 4th Sunday, Dec. 18.  See the flier:  Download Advent 2011

     Last Sunday, November 27, The 1st of Advent.   The gift: Food.  From Ken Cramer,

    John, our community contributed 265 pounds of food and one $20 check. Assuming the check would buy 5 pounds of food, and assuming we had 91 people in attendance yesterday, we averaged nearly three pounds of food per man, woman, and child.

I think we should be proud of ourselves!

       3.  December 18, 4th Advent.  The Gift: Men's Shoes for the Austin Street Shelter.  Also, a special rite of reconciliation during our Mass.  Mike Carrell will share his ideas during the homily.

      4.  Christmas Eve, 4:00, December 24, Saturday.  Christmas Pageant, plus 2 special visiters will be present.

There it is, The New World Trade Center, also called Freedom Tower, seen from the Staten Island Ferry. Think there is nothing free in NY? This ferry is totally free, Staten Island to Lower Manhatten.

Welcome: Catholic Mass with coffee and juice and specials on the house served afterwards.

Time: 9:30; Celebrate with the Community & Stack.

Place: Vines High School, 15th between Custer & Independence.

Freedom Tower.  A week from Wednesday, The Memorial Park will take down the fences and security, then open the museum.  Cost to enter, $25.

Acts 2, 14, 36-41,  About 3 thousand people were added that day.

Psalm 23,  The Lord is my shepherd (a good one)

1 Peter  2, 20-25,  When he was insulted, he returned no insult.

John  10, 1-10,  The shepherd calls his own sheep by name.

Astoria Park Rest Stop, Queens, 5 Boro Bike Tour. Robert Kennedy Bridge (or Tri-boro), connecting Queens & Manhatten. Note the helmet covers. First time we've seen them. Also, no cups or water bottles at water stops to prevent waste & mess. Bring your own water bottle and fill up from 10 gallon jugs.
