Sunday Mass Reminder for November 18, 2007, Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Mass: Last Sunday of this Church Calendar Year: 9:30; coffee, donuts, home made muffins, & juice on the house.

Place: Vines High School on 15th between Custer & Independence.

Readings: Sirach 50 22-24; Psalm 113; 1 Corinthians 1, 3-9; Luke 17, 11-19 (these are the readings for Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, page 88 in our booklets)

Thankgiving Tree: we will set up a tree with lights on the stage.  Nearby will be paper ornaments on which you may answer the question, " I thank God this year for…"  Use the ribbons to tie it onto the tree.  Kids will find special ornaments that have a picture to color on one side, while the blessing can be put on the other side.  We will keep it up every Sunday into Christmas Eve Mass at 4:00.  Perhaps a couple of blessings can be read anonymously each Sunday.  Our Thanksgiving continues into Christmas.

Community Bulletin Board

Result of the informal poll on our Mass time: wide preference for 9:30, as it is.

Tree Project update: maybe in December?  Waiting to hear from Collin Co. Child Advocacy Center, Park & Los Rios.

Nov. 17 Work Project: Alex Moore of Lakepoint Church helped us tremendously with our Rowlett house.  He now has a special renovation project which needs volunteer help.  It is quite a project involving another church in south Dallas.  Check out the project:  Download Nov. 17 Project.doc    Rosemary & I will be there. J.S.

From Tom Quinn: Do you know anyone interested in an entertainment center?  It’s a beautiful piece of blonde furniture that is in great condition.  I can’t seem to get any of the Charities to pick it up as I don’t have the vehicle to deliver it.  Quinn, Tom & Theresa, E-mail Address:  tntquinn@peoplepc.com

November 25: No Mass the Sunday just after Thanksgiving.  Rosemary & I will be at her sister Clare’s house.

December 9: Save Your Blood for the Christmas Blood Drive and Brunch.

See you Sunday.

    TRUE?

In the late 1600s the finest instruments originated from three rival families whose workshops were side by side in the Italian village of Cremona. First were the Amitis, and outside their shop hung a sign: “The best violins in all Italy.” Not to be outdone, their next-door neighbors, the family Guarnerius, hung a bolder sign proclaiming: “The Best Violins In All The World!” At the end of the street was the workshop of Anton Stradivarius, and on its front door was a simple notice which read: "The best violins on the block.”

    Dear Stack Ministry,

Hello, my name is Anthony DeGenova.  I am 17 years old, and am working on my Boy Scouts Eagle Project.  My mission is to donate LEGO blocks to under-privileged children.  This project includes the collection, cleaning, sterilizing, sorting, packaging, and delivery of the LEGO blocks to a few charities that cater to children. I plan to donate all of mine, and would like very much to collect as many as possible from friends and neighbors like you, who wouldn’t mind giving theirs up for needy children.  I am accepting both used and new LEGO blocks. Please bring the LEGO blocks to church and my parents will pick them up.  Alternatively, I will gladly pick them up from your house, at your convenience.

If you have any questions, please contact me at:

    Telephone: 972-495-3639

    Email Address:  anthonydegenova@outlook.com

I look forward to your support, and hope to make this drive and my Eagle project a success. Thank you very much for your help,
