23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, September 6, 2026

Ezekiel 33:  Thus says the LORD: You, son of man, I have appointed watchman for the house of Israel; when you hear me say anything, you shall warn them for me.
Romans 13:  Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.
Matthew 18:  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

It can often be far more difficult to identify the real questions we face than it is to find spurious answers to the superficial ones.

True?  I believe there is an important distinction to be made between religion and spirituality. Religion I take to be concerned with belief in the claims to salvation of one faith tradition or another–an aspect of which is acceptance of some form of meta-physical or philosophical reality, including perhaps an idea of heaven or hell. Connected with this are religious teachings or dogma, ritual, prayers and so on. Spirituality I take to be concerned with those qualities of the human spirit–such as love and compassion, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, contentment, a sense of responsibility, a sense of harmony, which bring happiness to both self and others.

    From Lynda Fleming:

    Senior Citizens Angel Tree:
We are partnering again this year with the Wellness Center for Older Adults in Plano. There are a variety of ways you can help:
~ If you would like to sponsor a senior, please text Lynda Fleming at 972-754-0823 with the number of seniors you would like to sponsor and a budget amount.
~ If you would like to make a contribution, please Venmo her @LyndaFleming and she’ll be happy to shop for you.
~ if you would like to donate $20 gift cards, the most requested places are Walmart, Subway, Target and Aldi.

Thanks so much for your support and generosity!!

I asked Lynda how much it would cost to sponsor a person.   She said  it would probably be $20-$30. They typically want pajamas or a couple pieces of clothing or a small appliance, things like that…
She also said The Wellness Center will contact as many of their people as they can to ask for needs and wants. If they don’t need anything specific, we give them a gift card depending on if they asked for a restaurant, groceries or general items.
