Isaiah 7: Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel. Romans 1: Through him we have received the grace of apostleship, to bring about the obedience of faith, for the sake of his name, among all the Gentiles, among whom are you also, who are called to belong to Jesus Christ; Matthew 11: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.”
No, life is not predictable, but it is livable if we only concentrate on what we have more than on what we want. “Life is a shipwreck,” Voltaire wrote, “but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats.” The Monastic Way, Sister Joan Chittister

Rosemary’s Blessing:
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey …
I asked for health, that I might do great things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things …
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise …
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God …
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things …
I got nothing I asked for—but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among men, most richly blessed”

The thing about our winter is that it snows. The thing about spring is that it rains. The thing about summer is that it’s sweltering hot. The thing about autumn is that it’s dark and cold. Isn’t it wonderful? All of it. Every single different thing that makes us adjust and enjoy and live life differently. The Monastic Way, Sister Joan Chittister

We are partnering again this year with the Wellness Center for Older Adults in Plano. There are a variety of ways you can help:
~ If you would like to sponsor a senior, please text Lynda Fleming at 972-754-0823 with the number of seniors you would like to sponsor and a budget amount.
~ If you would like to make a contribution, please Venmo her @LyndaFleming and she’ll be happy to shop for you.
~ if you would like to donate $20 gift cards, the most requested places are Walmart, Subway, Target and Aldi.
Thanks so much for your support and generosity!!
I asked Lynda how much it would cost to sponsor a person. She said it would probably be $20-$30. They typically want pajamas or a couple pieces of clothing or a small appliance, things like that…
She also said The Wellness Center will contact as many of their people as they can to ask for needs and wants. If they don’t need anything specific, we give them a gift card depending on if they asked for a restaurant, groceries or general items.

Prayer for Good Humor by St. Thomas More
Grant me, O Lord, good digestion, and also something to digest.
Grant me a healthy body, and the necessary good humor to maintain it.
Grant me a simple soul that knows to treasure all that is good
and that doesn’t frighten easily at the sight of evil,
but rather finds the means to put things back in their place.
Give me a soul that knows not boredom, grumblings, sighs and laments,
nor excess of stress, because of that obstructing thing called “I.”
Grant me, O Lord, a sense of good humor.
Allow me the grace to be able to take a joke to discover in life a bit of joy,
and to be able to share it with others.

have been promised to the meek.
so, dance within the tune allotted,
whether it be brief or long,
pausing not to mark the measures;
rejoicing ever in the song.

help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen.
